UK statistics office warns of ‘acute’ decline in workforce

London: The UK The Office for National Statistics has warned of an “acute” workforce shortage in the UK during the next three years due to the increase in the number of those who do not want to work.

Reports quoted the statistics office on Friday as saying that the number of those who do not want to work in Britain would increase by 726,000 by 2026 in the age group of 16 and 64 years, as opposed to pre-COVID levels.

Reports noted that the increase in the number of Brits discouraged from working raises concerns about a shortage of workers, which may push employers to increase wages and the continuation of high inflation.
