Jordan’s trade balance deficit with countries of the European Union (EU) rose by 30.2 percent during the first five months of 2021, to reach some JD1.052 billion, compared with JD807.6 million during the same period of 2020, according to the Department of Statistics’ (DoS) figures.

The volume of national exports to EU countries during the first five months of 2021 amounted to JD78.2 million, marking a 29.7 percent increase, in comparison with JD60.3 million during the same period of 2020.

The department’s figures revealed that imports from the EU countries also increased by 30.3 percent, reaching JD1.131 billion, compared with JD867.9 million during the same period of last year.
