Tourism ministry pledges further contribution to national economy: Minister

Amman, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Majd Shweikeh, on Wednesday said that the ministry is constantly working to cement its role in strengthening the national economy and to build on previous achievements in this field.

During a meeting with ministry’s employees, Shweikeh said the ministry will remain committed to the principles of transparency, innovation, excellence and teamwork.

She indicated that expenditure on developing tourism services should be perceived as an investment that generates revenues, stressing that the ministry and the Jordan Tourism Board will exert efforts to enhance the country’s competitiveness in the medical tourism.

The ministry will implement His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives regarding development plans and programs for medical tourism in cooperation with concerned bodies, she added.

Shweikeh was briefed on challenges facing the ministry’s employees and how to overcome those challenges and turn them into opportunities that will help the ministry carry out its duties and achieve its goals.
