Tourism income up 9% by September
Amman, The Kingdom’s tourism income increased by the end of September to JOD3.145 billion, up by 9 percent compared with the same period in 2018, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced in its monthly statistical report.
Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Majd Shweikeh, Tuesday told journalists that the tourism income continues to rise, driven by an increase in the number of visitors in general and overnight tourists in particular from all countries until the end of September. She noted that the total number of tourists reached 410,7219, indicating a 7-percent increase, and the number of overnight tourists stood at 3,461,996 tourists, up by 6.5 percent.
The number of tourist groups visitors jumped to more than 400,480 visitors, up by 13.8 percent compared with the same period in 2018, Shweikeh added
The minister stressed that the ministry is moving forward in accordance with the Royal Directives and the Cabinet’s support toward achieving “renaissance” in the tourism sector and pursuit of its development goals.
