A tax body employee and a representative of a local company were Sunday sentenced to a 3-year prison term each after the Amman Criminal Court found them guilty of offering and accepting bribery.
In addition to the three temporary labor sentence, the convicts were fined JD18,000 each plus court costs. The decision remains subject to appeal before a higher court.
According to court documents, the company agent offered to bribe the tax employee in order to reduce the tax assessment on the former’s firm.
