Supporting decentralization must continue, says house speaker
Amman, Speaker of the Lower House Atef Tarawneh Wednesday said that the idea of establishing decentralized governorates councils stems from His Majesty King Abdullah’s II vision and should be further cemented.
During a meeting in the House of Representatives with top officials, Tarawneh highlighted that this meeting comes following a series of meetings that he has held with presidents of the Kingdom’s governorates councils, calling on the councils to provide the Lower House with the most significant notes in the decentralization law to be adopted by the Lower House and sent to the government.
He said that the decentralization law needs adjustments to achieve His Majesty’s vision in the fair distribution of the development gains and the participation in the decision-making process and setting priorities for each governorate.
