Some 1.9mln passengers travelled through QAIA in Q1
Amman, Recent figures showed that 1,924,417 passengers traveled through Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) during the first quarter of 2019, marking a 6.1% growth in year-to-date figures compared to the same period in 2018.
According to statistics by the Airport International Group, aircraft movements totaled at 17,746, registering a notable 6.9% surge, while cargo movements dropped by 8.4% to stand at 22,608 tons.
Throughout March 2019, QAIA served 676,447 passengers and recorded 6,162 aircraft movements, indicating a rise of 4.6% and 5.3% respectively.
Meanwhile, QAIA handled 8,442 tons of cargo, amounting to a 7.5% decrease compared to the same month a year ago.
“2019 is off to a great start with passenger numbers showing a steady increase, driven largely by travels to Dubai, Cairo, Istanbul, Doha and Jeddah as the top five destinations during the first quarter,” said Kjeld Binger, Airport International Group CEO.
“This achievement was made possible thanks to the hard work, dedication and commitment of all our stakeholders, and we look forward to seeing these efforts come to fruition for the remainder of the year,” he added.
