Six vessels loaded with livestock have docked Thursday in the port of Aqaba, carrying about 50 thousand sheep, according to the Director General of the Aqaba’s Company for Ports Operation and Management (ACPOM), Khaled Ma’aitah.

After administering the veterinary checks, all the livestock were found “healthy and in good condition,” he said, adding that three other ships, loaded with live cattle, are scheduled to arrive the port of Aqaba.

Since the beginning of the giant ship’s logjam in the Suez Canal, the ACPOM launched a crisis cell and a strategic plan to dock the ships as per the rules and avoid unloading delays, and accordingly, the vessels, which have so far docked in the port, were unloaded in less than 10 hours, according to Ma’aitah.

Ships scheduled to arrive the port of Aqaba will be unloaded “quickly,” he said, announcing two grain ships are set to dock today.
