Session in Ma’an held to promote women political role
Tafila Women’s Charitable Association, in cooperation with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the European Union, has organized on Thursday, in Ma’an, a dialogue session on enhancing women’s participation in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
The session took place in the context of the activities of “My Voice… My Decision” project aimed at empowering women in the southern Ma’an, Karak and Tafila governorates, in the political and social fields.
Speaking to “Petra,” the project’s director, Hanan Khreisat, said the event aims to raise public awareness to enhance the women participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections, and to support women candidates running for the 19th Parliament.
The session also eyes to highlight the importance of enhancing the “effective” women participation in political life, Khreisat said.
On recommendations, the session highlighted the importance of supporting women to reach decision-making positions, and helping achieve their parliamentary bids, and organizing advocacy campaigns in this context, according to a staement issued by the organizers.
