Senate president, Swedish envoy talk ties, Mideast issues

Senate Speaker Faisal Fayez on Wednesday discussed with Swedish Ambassador Alexandra Rydmark ties and regional issues.

 

During the meeting, Fayez stressed the importance of cementing the Jordanian-Swedish relations in various fields, especially the political, cultural and economic ones.

 

He said that Jordan is proud of the “distinguished and strong” relations with Sweden, pointing out that His Majesty King Abdullah II is committed to developing them in various fields.

 

The meeting tackled the Jordanian-Swedish ties and the status quo in the region, namely the Palestinian cause and the need to resolve it in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the two-state solution.

 

Fayez lauded Sweden’s support to Jordan, especially in the areas of economic empowerment, youth and women empowerment, education and education-related technology, in addition to the financial support it provided to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

 

He also called for increasing trade exchange, establishing joint investments, and boosting the number of Swedish tourists to Jordan.

 

The Swedish envoy hailed the level of relations, stressing her country’s commitment to strengthening them. She also commended Jordan’s major humanitarian role toward refugees, and its pivotal role in bringing peace to the region and ending conflicts, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
