Senate President, Kuwait PM discuss ties

Kuwait, Senate President Faisal Fayez Tuesday met Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah and discussed Jordanian-Kuwaiti ties and ways of cementing cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Sheikh Al-Sabah expressed his satisfaction with the “distinguished and strong” political, economic and social relations, adding that Kuwait stands by Jordan to counter economic challenges resulting from regional turmoil, and will encourage the Kuwaiti private sector to increase its investments in the Kingdom.

The Kuwaiti Prime Minister said the two countries have been in constant communication and consultation on the various issues of mutual concern, adding that he will visit Jordan on Feb. 10 for talks with Jordanian officials on ways and means of enhancing relations.

He said that during his visit, in which he will be accompanied by a delegation of businessmen, the two countries will sign a number of joint agreements in economic, investment and other fields.

Fayez, who is visiting upon an invitation from Kuwaiti Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al Ghanem, thanked Kuwait for its aid which enabled Jordan to address economic challenges.

He said that regional instability had placed enormous difficulties on Jordan’s economy and that the Kingdom needs the support of Arab brothers and friends to continue its humanitarian role towards Syrian refugees.
