Senate donates JD30,000 to needy families

Amman, The Senate, through its Social Solidarity Fund, on Monday donated JD30,000 to families in need across the Kingdom.

Senate President Faisal Fayez said the aid will be handed over to the Ministry of Social Development which in turn will give JD30 to each family, noting that the Upper House has often provided donations to families of fallen soldiers and officers of various security apparatuses, indebted women and several hospitals and charities.

He stated that senators pay special care to various social and humanitarian initiatives that aim to overcome economic challenges and alleviate the difficult living conditions of citizens.

Established three years ago, the Social Solidarity Fund depends on senators’ contributions which are regularly deducted from their monthly salaries.

Fayez called on banks, chambers of commerce and industry, major companies and trade unions to establish social solidarity and humanitarian aid funds especially during these difficult times, in which these entities must shoulder the national responsibility and contribute to the funds.
