Senate committee discusses labour policies

Amman, The Senate’s Financial and Economic Committee headed by Rajai Muasher on Thursday discussed labour policies in light of the endorsement of the state budget and budgets of independent government units draft law.

During the meeting, which was attended by Labour Minister Ali Ghzawi, Muasher highlighted the importance of the labour sector in achieving economic goals and creating job opportunities to address the problems of poverty and unemployment.

He pointed to the presence of a government plan to create job opportunities through focusing on employment, empowerment and training and replacing guest workers with Jordanians.

Rajai said that unemployment rate stood at 18 percent until the third quarter of 2017 while the number of labour forces reached 1.406 million (84 percent males and 53 percent females
