Saudi Arabia condemns announcement of Israel’s Netanyahu
Amman, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has inveighed against an announcement made by Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, about his intention to annex lands in the occupied West Bank, if he wins the upcoming elections.
Saudi Arabia said in a statement on Wednesday that this declaration is “A very serious escalation against the Palestinian people, and a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law and state norms,” adding that this declaration would undermine any efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace as there will be no peace without the restoration of the occupied Palestinian territories and the rights of the Palestinian people.
Israel’s attempts to impose a fait accompli policy would not succeed in diminishing the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, it stressed, calling on all countries, international organizations and bodies to condemn this declaration and to consider any action resulting from it as void and null.
The kingdom called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the level of foreign ministers to discuss this issue and set an emergency plan of action in order to face the declaration and address it and take necessary measures.
