Safadi holds talks with officials at Brussels conference

Brussels, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi Thursday held talks with officials partaking in a Brussels-held conference dedicated to Syria, during which international donor community is expected to pledge generously to refugees and their hosting communities.

Talks touched on bilateral ties and ways to resolve regional crises, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue, which remains the core of the conflict and instability in the region, in addition to the Syria crisis.

While in Brussels, Safadi met Prime Minister of Lebanon Sa’ed Hariri and discussed the global position on the refugees issue, as well as the latest developments in the Middle east, bilateral relations and ways to further boost them in various domains.

He also met Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah for talks on joint action and bilateral cooperation to overcome regional crises and bring about peace and stability to the region.

“The only avenue towards comprehensive peace is to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution that puts an end to the occupation, ensures the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of 4 June, 1967 in accordance with the Arab Pace Initiative and the International Legitimacy Resolutions”, Safadi and Al-Sabah stressed during the meeting.

He hailed Kuwaiti support to Jordan and its role in ensuring that the London conference be successful.
