Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 395,897 passengers in January, recording a 161.3 per cent growth in passenger traffic, compared with the same period last year, according to latest data.
Aircraft movements grew to 4,630 in January, 127.2% up from the same period last year, according to the statistics announced Tuesday by Airport International Group (AIG).
Air freight traffic also reached 4,048 tons in January, 13.6 per cent up from the same period in 2021, the figures showed.
Passenger and aircraft movement and air cargo traffic at QAIA remained far lower than pre-pandemic levels despite the improvement from 2021 statistics, said AIG CEO Nicolas Claude.
He expressed hope that the sector will continue to build travelers’ confidence in safe air travel as Covid-19 restrictions had been relaxed worldwide. He said AIG looks forward to seeing the impact of eased regulations on movements on an annual basis throughout 2022.
