Prices of vehicles in free zones 30% lower than car agencies’ prices: JFZIC president
Amman, Jordan Free Zone Investor Commission (JFZIC) President, Mohammad Bustanji said free zones traders import vehicles from countries that set standard specifications that exceed Jordanian standards, which ensure the safety of vehicles entering the local market.
Bustanji noted that prices of vehicles in free zones are 30 percent lower than car agencies’ prices.
He added that free zones, which constitute the import and trade base of vehicles in the Kingdom, account for 80 percent of the total sale of vehicles in the local market.
Regarding a hybrid vehicle recently burned, Bustanji said the local market includes more than 150,000 electric and hybrid vehicles and there has been no record on such incidents since 2008 regarding defects due to the import of vehicles, but any similar incidents were caused by unauthorized modifications or inappropriate spare parts.
He called on everyone to wait for the report of competent technical authorities on the cause of the combustion of hybrid vehicles, noting that this report is the definitive evidence to end any rumors currently circulating.
