Political will to fight climate change is fading, warns UN chief

London, Political will to fight climate change appears to be fading, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned.

Guterres made the comments after arriving in New Zealand on Sunday.

According to BBC news, Guterres said: “Climate change is running faster than what we are,” noting that the world was “not on track” to confine the rise in global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

He commended New Zealand for measures it had undertaken to make the 5-million-population nation mostly carbon neutral by 2050.
