Prime Minister Bishr Khasawneh on Monday tested positive for the coronavirus, announced Faisal Shboul, State Minister for Media Affairs and government spokesperson.
A test conducted earlier today for the premier, who is in Egypt on an official visit, came back positive, indicated Shboul, assuring that Khasawneh is asymptomatic.
The visit program has been changed, he added, and the scheduled official visits have been cancelled, including a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and a meeting of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
Under the established health protocol, the Prime Minister will self-quarantine upon his return to the Kingdom, Shboul said.
