PM chairs Coronavirus Crisis Cell meeting
Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Saturday chaired a meeting of the Coronavirus Crisis Cell following a spike in the number of local infections over the past few days.
The meeting, attended by commanders of security agencies and a number of ministers, discussed the latest developments in the Kingdom’s epidemiological situation after recording more than 70 local cases in the past nine days. It also explored ways and means of keeping the situation under control and contain any community spread.
The prime minister stressed the importance of assessing the epidemiological situation and reviewing plans at the national and governorate levels, to prepare for dealing with various scenarios of the epidemiological situation. Razzaz called for tightening control at border crossings and ensuring that all measures are taken to prevent community spread.
Razzaz emphasized that the epidemiological situation must be reviewed at the national and governorate levels and take isolation or closure decisions accordingly to spare the country a nationwide lockdown.
Following the meeting, the prime minister and senior military and civic officials visited the Omari border crossing with Saudi Arabia to take a firsthand look at measures in place to contain the disease.
