PM chairs civil defence meeting on preps for winter
Amman, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Sunday chaired a meeting of the Civil Defence Department (CDD) Higher Council to look first-hand at the concerned authorities’ preparations for the winter season.
Razzaz said the meeting aims to enhance coordination and teamwork to reduce risks and respond to emergencies.
“Our goal is to improve performance, achieve more, and address the gaps that have occurred in previous years to meet citizens’ expectations, guided by His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives,” he stated.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister voiced his pride in the field crews, administrators and CDD personnel, who reached an advanced level in line with international standards in terms of service quality and rapid response.
He highlighted the importance of participation by citizens, civil society organisations and youth volunteers in emergency conditions during the winter.
Director General of the CDD, Maj. Gen. Mustafa Bazaiya, said the department has the support of King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander, pointing to its advanced equipment and machinery.
The CDD put in place a plan for the winter, he added, noting that the apparatus coordinates with all institutions and ministries.
He pointed to the Dead Sea Water and Mountain Rescue Center, which was established recently under Royal directives.
The meeting tackled the CDD’s plan of action to deal with emergency weather conditions, in which hypothetical situations and response methods were introduced.
