Amman: Director General of the Jordan News Agency (Petra) Fairouz Mubideen congratulated the agency’s female staff on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which is celebrated annually on March 8th.
During a meeting with Petra’s journalists and administrative staff on Wednesday, Mubideen stressed the important role of Jordanian women in their various social, economic and political positions.
This occasion, she said, is a reminder to all of us, women and men, that empowering women in all fields, but particularly in the innovation, science and technology areas, props up the achievement of development and modernization, which the Jordanian state aspires to and strives to achieve.
The agency will spare no effort to provide a supportive work environment for all of its employees and enhance their professional skills by providing equal opportunities in various fields, the Director General underscored, noting that Petra is open to any suggestions and ideas in this regard.
For their part, attendees expressed their appreciation for the organization of this meeting to celebrate this occasion.
This year’s International Women’s Day is held under the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” to highlight the role of women in innovation, technology and science, and tackle means of enhancing women’s participation in these areas to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
