Patriarch of Jerusalem denounces U.S. Jerusalem decision
Amman, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem, All Palestine and Jordan, Theophilos III, denounced the U.S. administration’s decision to move its country’s embassy to Jerusalem and urged the Arab and Jerusalemite players to exhibit solidarity to protect its holy shrines.
The patriarch, in a statement issued on Thursday, deemed the U.S. move “a grave development,” and added maintaining the current Jerusalem status quo is a guarantee to achieve peace.
“Any measures tampering with this status will undermine opportunities to reach just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and will accelerate diverse breaches on Christian properties and endowments,” he pointed out.
