Parliamentary panel urges more efforts for release of Jordanian prisoners in Israel
Amman, The Lower House Public Freedoms and Human Rights Committee on Monday urged the Foreign Ministry to step up efforts for the release of two Jordanians in Israeli detention.
In a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the panel’s head Awad Al Zwaydeh and members demanded speedy action to secure the release of Jordanian prisoners in various world countries, particularly Jordanians Abdel Rahman Marei and Heba Labadi, who are held in Israeli jails.
Safadi assured the lawmakers that the ministry is doing its utmost for the freedom of Marei and Labadi and had summoned the Israeli ambassador twice to demand their release and express its rejection of administrative detention without trial.
