Parliamentary energy committee, Moroccan minister discuss cooperation
Amman, Aug. 28 (Petra) — Parliamentary Mineral Resources and Energy Committee has held a meeting with the Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development, Aziz Rabbah, for a discussion on enhancing cooperation on energy.
Head of the committee, MP Haitham Zayadin said that: “Jordan and Morocco are going through similar circumstances with regard to the electricity and energy sector, which calls for concerted effort to overcome obstacles facing the two countries.”
His Majesty King Abdullah II attached utmost importance to the energy sector through his continuous follow-up on the government’s plans to promote the energy sector and adopt transparency, as well as clarify the mechanisms of issuing permits for renewable energy projects, Ziadin added.
He stressed that the updated and stability of legislation that regulates the energy sector is an important factor to lure in investments and develop projects, especially renewable energy projects, pointing out to the significance of leveraging the Moroccan experience.
In turn, Rabah praised Jordan for its efforts in maintaining security and stability and providing energy despite the regional circumstances and challenges, stressing the importance of enhancing mutual relations, joint cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the energy sector between the two countries.
