Parliamentary committee meets Russian envoy

Head of the Jordan-EU parliamentary friendship committee Haitham Ziyadin on Thursday underlined the depth of the Jordanian-Russian relations in various fields.

During a meeting with the Russian Ambassador Gleb Desiatnikov, Ziyadin said the 60-year long ties were founded by His Majesty the late King Hussein bin Talal, and strengthened by His Majesty King Abdullah II and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Jordan is keen on boosting economic, trade and political ties, he stated, underlining the importance of enhancing bilateral parliamentary diplomacy.

He also lauded Russia’s role in supporting Jordan and its firm position on the Palestinian cause.

Desiatnikov underscored the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over the holy sites in Jerusalem, adding that Jordan’s position is clear and has been made known to countries around the world

He stressed the need to boost relations between the two countries, pointing to his country’s keenness on enhancing ties, particularly in the agricultural field.
