Parliament Speaker meets parliamentary Iraqi delegation
Amman-Parliament Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, on Tuesday met visiting parliamentary Iraqi delegation, headed by the House’s Financial Committee, Mohammed Tamim.
Talks during the meeting touched on prospects of joint parliamentary cooperation to coordinate stances towards the diverse regional issues.
Tarwaneh lauded the bilateral ties as “longstanding, historic” and serve the national and pan-Arab interests.
He also briefed the Iraqi guests on the precarious repercussions of the Mideast volatilities, which triggered a negative impact on the Kingdom’s economy.
He said the Parliament views a difficult budgetary deficit, triggered by the tumultuous circumstances in the Middle East.
As for the Palestinian cause, Tarawneh said this issue tops Jordan’s priorities and highlighted the key role of the Hashemite custodianship on the occupied Jerusalem.
The delegation, on their part, stressed the dire need to sustain robust bilateral cooperation and said the continual coordination with the Jordanian parliament is crucial to serve mutual interests.
They also commended the Kingdom’s unwavering support to Iraq and diverse gov’t facilities offered to the Iraqis staying in the country.
They expressed hope security and stability will prosper after the Iraqi army completely defeated the terror Dae’sh gang.
