Palestinian foreign ministry slams Knesset’s death penalty bill

Ramallah, The Palestinian Foreign Ministry denounced Knesset’s step to give preliminary approval to a death penalty bill making it easier to issue capital punishment sentences on Palestinians taking part in anti-occupation activities.

The motion is a further Israeli escalation as a part of Tel Aviv’s flagrant measures against the Palestinian people and a gross breach of int’l law and human rights charters, said a ministry’s statement on Thursday.

Israel is to blame for grave ramifications if this bill is endorsed, and int’l community is urged to exert efforts to block this “inhumane and heinous” legislation, which belligerently affects basic rights of Palestinian citizens, elaborated the statement.
