Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemns construction of 2500 settlement units in West Bank

Ramallah, The Palestinian Foreign Ministry blasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approval of new settlement plans that include the construction of 2,500 new settlement units in the West Bank.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry called on the UN Security Council to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities to end this settlement escalation and to implement Resolution 2334.

The ministry warned of the repercussions of Israel’s settlement expansion policy, and its impact on the chances of achieving peace on the basis of establishing a viable and sovereign Palestinian state alongside Israel.

The ministry referred to Netanyahu’s meeting today with the heads of the settlement councils in the West Bank to discuss expanding settlements.
