OIC’s extraordinary summit on Jerusalem kicks off in Istanbul…. 1st Lead

In his speech at the summit the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, commended efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Custodian of the Christian and Muslim Holy Sites in the occupied city Jerusalem. “His Majesty has a key role to play, we have decided in our bilateral meetings to listen diligently to his remarks in extended manner to help us plan our relevant future steps, he said. ” “We press ahead to stand by my brother, King Abdullah II, the guardian of the occupied Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque to counter Israeli aggressions,” Erdogan added.

As the rotating president of the OIC, Erdogan said the U.S. president’s decision on Jerusalem is a threat to humanity as a whole, including, Israel and America.

Describing Israel as an occupying and a “terror state”, Erdogan said Washington’s step is a reward for Israeli “terror acts” .Erdogan deemed “the Israeli soldiers as terrorists, who take 10-year-old children into custody and put them behind bars. A 14-year-old kid is blindfolded by around 20 soldiers and clubbed with rifle butts,” he said, referring to a Palestinian boy who was detained last Thursday during clashes in the West Bank city of Hebron (Al-Khalil).

The Turkish leader said Jerusalem is a “red line” for Muslims, who will not accept any aggression on its Islamic shrines, urging concomitantly the world powers to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine and stressing the United States should reverse its decision.
