NPC GM says company’s projects are proceeding according to plans

The National Petroleum Company (NPC) on Monday, its position issued statement on shutting down the Risha power generation plant.

NPC General Manager Mohammad Khasawneh said the company is working, in accordance with the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ plan, to implement its 2020-2030 strategic plan aimed at maximizing production capacities and increasing the contribution of the local product to the total energy consumed mixture, reaching a productivity of 200 million cubic feet per day to increase the production capacity of the field.

“This plan included a marketing plan for natural gas to diversify buyers and not to rely on a single buyer in a way that ensures the optimal exploitation of gas and achieves an addition value to the industrial sector that suffers from energy costs because natural gas has the lowest price compared to the rest of oil derivatives, and this reinforced by the costs of production in the Risha field low compared to neighboring countries”, Khasawneh said in the statement.

According to Khasawneh, the marketing plan was built in stages based on the gradual increase of production capacities from the field, and therefore the choice was to convert natural gas into liquefied or compressed gas to transport it by specialized tanks to consumption points in various industrial areas in Jordan.
