NARC, EU CBC programme conclude food processing workshop

A 3-week training course on the integration of circular economy in food processing was concluded on Thursday, at Jordan’s National Center for Agricultural Research (NCAR), as part of the activities of the Social Integration Project (SIP), funded by the EU Cross Border Cooperation (CBC) Programme.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the first batch of trainees, NARC Director General, Dr. Nizar Haddad, said the workshop acquainted participants on the basic skills in entrepreneurship within the framework of NARC’s social responsibility and vision to rehabilitate young men and women to self-create job opportunities and familiarize beneficiaries on modern food processing technologies.

21 participants benefited from the in-person training program, most are newly graduated Jordanian agricultural engineers, who were qualified to become self-employed in the manufacturing fields, adding that the initiative continues to empower many other beneficiary categories, according to Haddad.

Head of the project coordinator, Ala’a Wahba, said NARC’s team designed 4 training programs for the target groups, aimed to build the capacities of young people and girls on the “circular and blue” economies, adding that beneficiaries came from the central Balqa governorate and the Jordan Valley region.
