Moscow accuses Washington of Double standards over terrorism

The American administration has double standards in its cooperation with Russia in countering terrorism, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Oleg Syromolotov, said in the press release that Russia is disappointed with U.S. double stands, pointing out that the cooperation between Russia and the U.S. has gone through different phases, He said the U.S. disregards certain things in countering terrorism.

“Moscow is ready to hold talks with Washington on the most important issues in combating terrorism, yet Moscow will not insist further,” Syromolotov added, citing examples of Russian-American cooperation in regard to security.

Syromolotov pointed out that through communication channels between the two countries, Moscow tipped the American administration about the suspicious activity of the two brothers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev. “The Americans did not respond at the beginning but then declared “they will deal with their citizens, and as a result the tragedy happened,”.

He added that the Russian authorities managed to foil a terrorist attack on the City of St. Petersburg last December thanks to a tip-off from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), pointing out the efficiency of the Russian-American cooperation.
