Ministry urges reducing child labor on world day

The Ministry of Labor on Saturday underscored the importance of reducing child labor, under the slogan “I don’t want to work, I want to learn”, launched on the occasion of World Children’s Day.

The ministry explained, in a press statement, that child labor is a violation of their rights, and has negative effects on their physical, psychological and social safety and hinders their education.

The ministry underscored the importance of concerted international and national efforts to address child labor and its effects and consequences, which worsened after the COVID-19 breakout, for the child and his/her family.

The ministry called on employers to abide by the legal age for labor, and on families to assume their responsibilities and be aware of the dangers and damages that children would be exposed to at work.
