Minister: 46 new non-local COVID-19 infections Tuesday
Following weeks of single-digit daily cases of COVID-19, some 46 new infections with the virus were recorded on Tuesday, all of them coming from abroad, Minister of Health Saad Jabir said.
The minister told reporters that 44 of the new infections were for Jordanians who have recently come from Syria and remained in quarantine at Dead Sea hotels.
Jabir said he expects infections among arrivals from Syria will increase over the coming days based on the results of tests, assuring that all arrivals remain quarantined. The other two cases were for Jordanians coming from Iraq and Saudi Arabia, he said.
With regard to testing, the minister said the number of tests conducted since the outbreak of the pandemic in early March has reached 527,094.
