Legislator says amendments to child law in line with constitution

The head of the Legal, Women and Family Affairs Parliamentary Committee, Abdel Moneim Awdat, Wednesday said the Committee made “strenuous” efforts to come up with a child law that would go in line with the constitution and not cause contradictions.

Awdad noted that what is needed is to implement the amendments after the parliament approves them, adding the importance of adapting amendments to serve the higher national interest and the interest of society.

During a meeting to study the proposals and notes that were put forward during the discussion of the draft Child Rights Law for 2022, Awdat noted that the Committee attached the utmost importance to these proposals and observations, taking into consideration many of them.

The Committee mulled over the suggestions, observations and opinions that were put forward during previous meetings.
