Kurds fully withdrawn from safe zone near border: Moscow
Moscow, Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, Tuesday said armed Kurdish forces had fully withdrawn from a “safe zone” near the northeast Syria-Turkey border.
“The withdrawal of armed forces from the territory where a safety corridor is supposed to be created has been completed ahead of schedule,” Shoigu told journalists in a press conference.
He pointed out that Russian and Syrian forces had entered the safe zone.
The statement comes after Turkey and Russia agreed to jointly patrol south of the Turkey-Syria border after removing Kurdish People’s Protection Unit (YPG) forces.
