Following the talks, the two sides issued a joint declaration in which they highlighted the importance of continuing cooperation to enhance peace, stability, security and development in the region.
The two leaders affirmed the importance of promoting bilateral ties in various fields, including trade, investment, industry, agriculture, tourism, culture, education and science.
They also agreed to boost cooperation in the political and security fields, and hold political consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries. The King and President Rahmon voiced their deep concern over threats resulting from terrorism, and extremism, drug trafficking and other border cross crimes, and agreed to boost cooperation to address these threats.
On economic, trade and investment cooperation, they welcomed the establishment of a joint committee for economic, trade and technical cooperation in order to forge closer cooperation in various domains.
They also expressed their desire to establish an investment council between the two countries and invited the private sector as well as businessmen to take part in economic forums, fairs, and trade and investment events.
The two sides voiced deep concern over the increasing challenges facing the Islamic world and called for boosting cooperation in the interest of the Islamic nation.
The two leaders stressed the importance of solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through peaceful means based on international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
They also affirmed the importance of preserving the historical and legal status of Al Aqsa Mosque/Haram Al Sharif and put an end to all Israeli violations against the holy shrine.
The two leaders affirmed that the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move the US embassy to the city, is a violation of the international law as well as international legitimacy resolutions, and said it will have dangerous repercussions on peace and security in the region and on peace- making efforts.
They affirmed the importance of intensifying Arab, Islamic and international efforts to protect the rights of Palestinians in Jerusalem, which is key to peace and stability in the region.
On Syria, the two leaders stressed the need to continue international efforts to achieve a political solution to the Syrian crisis that ensures the independence, unity and sovereignty of Syria.
