Kazakh official urges Jordan’s accession to Islamic Food Security Organization

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Roman Vassilenko, has said that Jordan is now one of his country’s most important partners in the Arab World. In an interview with Petra, Vassilenko expressed his country’s eager anticipation of Jordan’s membership in the OIC’s Islamic Food Security Organization, which Kazakhstan helped found. He pointed out that the Organization provides a platform for member governments to collaborate on a range of innovative, high-impact initiatives that will help to ensure that all people have access to sufficient food. “From the beginning of diplomatic ties between our nations in 1993, our stances on important global and regional issues have been remarkably similar. Our nations are successfully cooperating on multilateral forums, such as the UN, the OIC, and the CICA. Jordan actively participates in the Congress of World and Traditional Religions, which is regularly held in Kazakhstan “he noted, emphasizing that the strategic visions of the leaders of the two nations made this example of collaboration possible. According to the Kazkh official, ties between Kazakhstan and Jordan are now advancing quickly. He cited the leaders of the two nations’ ongoing meetings, the most recent of which took place in September 2022 in New York on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly. Vassilenko emphasized the parliamentary ties between the two countries, noting that the inter-parliamentary friendship group is actively involved in this process, and he went on to say that there will soon be an exchange of visits of parliamentary delegations. As for the Syrian conflict, the deputy minister said that his country backs all international efforts to end the crisis, citing Jordan’s active participation as an observer in the Astana process on Syria and its major contribution to the resolution of the conflict there. He said that Kazakhstan is keen on developing its economic ties with Jordan in the areas of investment and trade. “For this reason, we think it’s time to bring in big players in logistics from Kazakhstan and Jordan to figure out certain details for shipping goods back and forth. Indeed, we need to make concerted efforts to create functional trade corridors,” he added.
