Jordan’s exports up 8.1pct at JD5.3bln in first 11 months of 2019

Jordan’s gross exports picked up by 8.1 percent in the first 11 months of 2019 totaling JD5.34 billion against the same period a year earlier, according to official figures.

National exports also expanded by 8.2 percent to JD4.54 billion in the same period while re-exports amounted to JD806 million, the data by the Department of Statistics revealed.

In turn, imports dropped by 4.1 percent to JD12.6 billion in the Jan-Nov period of 2019 compared with the same period in 2018. Additionally, the trade balance deficit narrowed by 11.4 percent to JD7.26 billion. The exports-to-imports coverage ratio stood at 42.4 percent, up by 4.8 percent.
