Jordanian trade exhibition to be launched in Damascus next Tuesday

Activities of the Jordanian Trade and Services Exhibition (JTSE), organized by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) and the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce (FSCC), is scheduled to start next Tuesday in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The three-day exhibition, which will be held at Damascus Fairground, will be attended by Jordanian companies working in various sectors, particularly trade, information and telecom technology (ITT), according to a JCC statement on Sunday

Jordanian companies participating in the event work in energy, renewable energy, transportation, logistics, tourism, medical tourism, agriculture and machinery, as well as universities and hospitals, the statement added.

JCC head, Nael Kabariti, said the exhibition constitutes an “important” economic dimension to further deepen Jordanian-Syrian commercial relations and sends a message that efforts are being made by the two countries’ economic sector to launch a different phase of commercial partnership to higher levels that meet the two people’s aspirations and interests.

The exhibition reflects Jordanian commercial and service sector’s desire to develop economic and trade relations with Syria and support their “rapid” development that suits capabilities available in the two countries, he pointed out.

Kabariti noted Jordan’s commercial and service sector is “keen to build a new form of economic relations with Syria within mutual benefit and integration.”

Kabariti also pointed to the need to strengthen relations of the economic sector’s institutions, and work jointly to remove the obstacles facing the two countries’ trade, adding that Jordan-Syria trade exchange “is still modest, ” which requires exerting more effort to increase its volume to meet common interests.

Lauding Jordanian-Syrian relations as “deep- rooted,” he highlighted the two brotherly countries’ commonalities, adding that their economic cooperation should reach a “high” level of coordination and exchange of views to serve the “higher” common interests.

Resumption of the Jordanian-Syrian trade relations to its previous status represents a common interest for the two countries’ economies, especially since Syria represents an “important” trade artery for the Kingdom, whether in terms of export, import or transit, just as Jordan represents a gateway for Syrian products and goods to cross safely to the markets of neighboring countries, according to Kabariti.

Value of Jordanian exports to Syria during 10 months of 2021 amounted to JD45 million, compared to JD40 million in imports, foreign trade figures issued by the Department of Statistics showed.
