Jordanian-Palestinian Marketing Company to launch end of 2018
Amman, Palestinian Agriculture Minister, Sufian Sultan, said the Jordanian-Palestinian agricultural marketing company will officially begin its operations before the end of this year in the Jordan Valley.
The official procedures for the company’s registration are in their final stages and then the construction of infrastructure and the launch of marketing activities for Palestinian and Jordanian products to all countries will begin, he announced.
The two agriculture ministries in the two countries have been working on the establishment of the company a year ago and plans are mulled to establish an airport in the Jordan Valley to transport products, the minister pointed out.
He announced the company will start its business as a government company of the two countries and a ten-member board of directors from each side has been formed, adding the first meeting will be held after the company is formally registered within two days to start marketing operations.
On the private sector’s participation from both countries, Sultan said the two governments had decided to start the company as a governmental entity to ward off potential, initial risks on the private sector, which will have the opportunity to get engaged after the completion of the entire infrastructure.
He said $18 million was allocated for the key project as each country will pay $9 million to start the company’s business as a first stage.
