Jordan witnesses acceleration in new Covid-19 cases, says WHO

Data released by the World Health Organization’s global weekly epidemiological report for 18th to 25th October has shown that Jordan saw an acceleration of new Covid-19 cases, which have reached their daily peak in the past seven days.

 

The weekly report’s data also showed that Bahrain recorded the second-highest new cases per million people, and the highest cumulative infections per million people in the region, according to the WHO’s online platform devoted to the Covid-19 developments on Wednesday.

 

The report also said Iran continues to report the largest number of new Covid-19 cases in the Eastern Mediterranean region, the highest number of additional virus-related deaths, and the highest number of new fatalities per million in the region.

 

In the past seven days, the report showed 159 thousand new Covid-19 cases were recorded, and 4 thousand deaths in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, an increase of 6% in infections, compared to the previous week, describing the uptick, during the past two months, as steady.
