Jordan sees 4 Covid-19 deaths, 3,372 cases within week

The Ministry of Health announced Sunday that 3,372 new cases and 4 deaths were recorded in the Kingdom during the 35th epidemiological week of 2022, spanning from August 27th to September 2nd, marking a decrease of 15 percent.

With regard to testing, 19,850 PCR tests were conducted over the past week, about 17 percent of which were positive, the report indicated.

To date, there are currently 2,903 active Covid-19 cases countrywide, down 13.4 percent compared to the previous week.

Moreover, the ministry said the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 62, compared with 59 a week earlier.

On the national vaccination program, the ministry pointed out that the number of shots administered during the 35th week stood at 1,529 for the first jab, 1,566 for the second, and 867 for the booster dose, marking a 6.6 percent rise.

The total number of first dose recipients now stands at 4,820,365, at a 75.2 percent rate for the 18yrs and over target group and 4,557,044 for the second jab, at a 71 percent rate, and 677,177 for the booster shot, according to the briefing.

Regarding immunization for the 12-17 age group, 238,637 received the first dose at a 25 percent rate, and double jabbed recipients reached 203,578 at a 20 percent rate. Meanwhile, among the 5-11 years age group, 342 and 248 children received the first and second doses, respectively.
