Jordan records 45 COVID-19 fatalities, 2, 097 new cases on Thursday-MoH

The Ministry of Health announced 45 Covid-19 fatalities and 2,097 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 8,474 and the caseload to 697, 487.

The statement added that there are currently 30, 726 cases on Thursday countrywide.

The new infections comprised 797 cases in the capital, Amman, 457 in Irbid, including 93 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 272 in Zarqa, 91 in Mafraq, 79 in Balqa, 66 in in Madaba, 65 in Karak, 63 in Jerash, 63 in Tafileh, 56 in Ajloun, 52 in Aqaba, 36 in Ma’an, , including 7 in Petra region, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 221, while 194 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.

According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Thursday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 3, 794 bringing the total to 658,287 since the outbreak began.

Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 1,918.

The statement also indicated that occupancy of ICU beds in the northern, central and southern regions, has has reached 53%, 55%, and 24%, respectively.

With regard to testing, 18, 228 tests were conducted Thursday, 11.5 percent of which were positive.

Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 6,564, 997, the joint statement noted.
