Jordan records 16 COVID-19 fatalities, 841 new cases on Thursday-MoH

Ministry of Health announced 16 Covid-19 fatalities and 841 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 9, 423 and the caseload to 734, 039.

The new infections comprised 378 cases in the capital, Amman, 155 in Zarqa, 83 in Irbid, including 4 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 57 in Balqa, 46 in Karak, 30 in Mafraq, 23 in Aqaba, 22 in Jerash, 19 in Ajloun, 16 in Tafileh, 8 in Madaba, and 4 in Ma’an, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The statement added that there are currently 11, 285 active COVID-19 cases in Jordan.

The number of hospitalizations today stood at 83, while 62 patients have recovered and discharged, the statement noted.

According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded on Thursday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 315, bringing the total to 713,331 since the outbreak began.

Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 591.

The statement also indicated that occupancy of the ICU bed capacity has hit 24%, 23%, and 8%, in the northern, central, and southern regions, respectively.

With regard to testing, 24,440 tests were conducted Thursday, 3.44 percent of which were positive.

Since March, 2020, the total number of tests administered has increased to 7,207,284, the joint statement noted.
