Jordan, Qatari Audit Bureaus discuss cooperation
Amman, Head of the Audit Bureau, Abded Kharabsheh, Monday said that the State Audit Bureau (SAB) in Qatar has reached an advanced and professional level, praising the cooperation between both entities.
During a meeting in Amman with a Qatari delegation headed by SAB Chairman Sheikh Bandar bin Mohamed bin Saud Al Thani, Kharabsheh said there is an ongoing cooperation with Arab and regional oversight bodies and international institutions to improve the level of professional performance in areas of control over public finances.
He pointed out that the 23rd meeting of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) held in Moscow, Russia, last month touched on several topics, primarily the role of information technology in the development of public administration, and the role of supreme audit institutions in realizing national priorities and achieving objectives, in addition to holding a special session on oversight of sustainable development goals.
Kharabsheh stressed the need to help governments in achieving the objectives of sustainable development, and the important role of the oversight bodies in appraising the performance of public sector institutions and government companies, which requires augmenting these bodies’ efforts.
In turn, Sheikh Al Thani said that relations between the Qatari and Jordanian oversight bodies have been witnessing developments in many fields, including training and coordination in positions in Arab and international organizations.
