Jordan partakes in UN Transforming Education Summit

The United Nations Transforming Education Summit (TES) 2022 kicked off Monday at the UN headquarters at the leaders level.

TES is being convened in response to a global crisis in education – one of equity and inclusion, quality and relevance. Often slow and unseen, this crisis is having a devastating impact on the futures of children and youth worldwide, according t a statement issued Monday by the UN.

Jordan is represented at the TES by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Minister of Education, Wajih Owais.

Yesterday, Jordan was elected as member in the high-level steering committee for Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, emphasized that “education is a cornerstone for building peaceful, prosperous and stable societies,” warning that “reducing investment effectively guarantees more serious crises in the future.”
