Jordan joins Global Forum for Tax Transparency

Amman, Director General of Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) Hossam Abu Ali announced Jordan has joined the international fight against tax evasion by becoming a member of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes.

In a press statement, Abu Ali voiced Jordan’s step to join the Global Forum comes within the framework of the Kingdom’s policy aimed at strengthening its cooperation with the world countries, and to participate actively at the international level in combating tax evasion and addressing irregularities in a way that improves tax revenues, raises the efficiency of tax commitment, and enhances mutual trust with taxpayers.

This step, he affirmed, will contribute to developing and modernizing the Kingdom’s tax system in line with international practices and standards applicable in the taxation field.

According to the statement, the Global Forum welcomed Jordan’s move aimed to exchange expertise for tax purposes, which “truly” reflects the Kingdom’s economic activities.
