Jordan, China discuss parliamentary ties, region

Senate Second Vice President Rajai Muasher Monday discussed with vice-chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chen Xiaoguang, ways and means of cementing relations between the two countries, particularly in parliamentary fields.

Muasher a virtual meeting, which was held via Zoom, that His Majesty King Abdullah constantly urges communication and cooperation with various friendly nations, particularly countries supporting Jordan’s position toward the Palestinian issue.

He noted Beijing’s support of the two-state solution according with international legitimacy resolutions and the setting up of a Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and Jordan’s custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Also during the meeting, which was attended by Chairman of the Senate Jordanian-Chinese Friendship Committee, Senator Issa Murad, and members of the consultative conference, Muasher said the Kingdom is interested to learn from China’s expertise and achievements in the various sectors, including raising economic growth rates and developing a better life for its citizens.

Xiaoguang noted the historic Sino-Jordanian relations, which were established more than 45 years ago, and reiterated Beijing’s support of the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve regional security and stability.
